Comments On the video "Connected...but Alone":
I feel that my use of
mobile technology is somewhat over-dependant, although my family often tells me
that my use is far less than most people…
While I don’t often feel desperate
when I am not on my phone, I don’t think I have been far away enough from my
phone to fully say if I could ever ‘miss’ my phone.
Sherry Turkle makes this argument by
showing us that when we are together, we never seem to be paying full attention
to each other, and hiding parts of ourselves to others.
I do agree with her, in
that people in my family often seem to be further removed from each other when
we socialize, all though my family does uphold refraining from using our phones in groups.
